Weakness is a Label
Weakness is a comparative label that is too easily assigned when expectations aren't met. Word labels are influential. Once we hear a label applied to us or others, it sticks and becomes part of how we define ourselves and others. A single-word label may be a valid assessment, but it can distract us from seeing the broader capabilities in ourselves and others.
Labels are quick and easy, but don't tell the whole story. Clients invariably tell me how smart some members of their staff are. This is nice, but smart means nothing to me because most people I work with are intelligent. I'm interested in discovering the extent of their smartness. There's so much more under the hood, making it worth the time.
